Josephine
Niemann, SSND, designs the banners and vestments for Liturgical
Fabric Arts, a ministry active in the community's St. Louis motherhouse
since 1898. Josephine holds a master's degree in art from the University
of Notre Dame. After teaching art in secondary schools for twenty
years in Missouri, Illinois, Iowa, and Sierra Leone, she works full-time
as an artist. Having grown up in a family where quilting is a loved
tradition, she naturally uses this medium for her creative expression.
Her style ranges from traditional to contemporary, from geometric
to pictorial. Her work can be seen in church collections across
the country, as well as in numerous books, quilting magazines and
liturgical publications.
